Austria: digital education becomes a school subject

In Austria, in this school year, 169 pilot project schools will start to teach “digital education” as a school subject, which will become a compulsory part of the curriculum next year.

From grade 5 to 8, it will take up two to four lessons per week and will terminate with a “digi.check”. The new school subject is part of the digitisation strategy “School 4.0” of the Austrian government.
