JIM report 2017: WhatsApp on top, Facebook fades

Most German adolescents between the age of 12 and 19 years (94%) communicate regularly via WhatsApp.

Among the social media platforms that are used multiple times per week, Instagram (57%) and Snapchat (49%) rank second and third. Only one fourth of German teenagers are still regular Facebook users, according to the JIM report 2017.

The JIM reports (youth, information, (multi) media) that capture the media usage of German teens have been published yearly since 1998 by the Medienpädagogische Forschungsverbund Südwest in cooperation with Südwestrundfunk.
