Digitalisation of schools requires 2,8 bn. € per year

A “learning-supportive infrastructure” for schools will cost the tax payer 2,8 bn. € per year, finds a recently published report of the Bertelsmann Stiftung.

But the “initiative for a digital pact” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research only earmarks 1 bn. € yearly for networked classrooms, online learning content and the training of teachers.

20% to 50% of the 2,8 bn. € are already put up by the municipalities. The report asks for continuous federal funding and points out that the contribution of parents to the financing of end devices - 800 mio. € - is an open issue.
